Koln

We were here before but didn’t get to see much. We had more time to explore

Koln or Cologne is known for its perfume industry in which no 4711 is the oldest  The store has a perfume fountain but the stuff really doesn’t smell good
Extensive bombing during WW2 uncovered lots of Roman ruins. This is a 2000 year old fountain
Train station which is near the Dom. First thing to destroy during war though the Dom had only a little damage

The Dom. Tallest spires in Europe

Park that’s supposed to evoke the river and the buildings around it

The stolper stein or stumble stone project started in Cologne as a way of remembering the victims of the Nazis. So far there are 90,000 of them, a drop in the bucket. They are placed before their last residence

Why is this expanse empty and guarded by four people? Underneath is a concert hall and the musicians can hear footsteps above them
