All things must end. The final day is fraught with various worries: will the suitcase hold together? (no as it turned out), will Spirit charge me extra because I didn't buy suitcase rights ahead of time even though it kept saying it had no record of me and wouldn't let me on its website) It did charge me twice as much as JetBlue but I don't know if they charged me more for not reserving it as their website is impossible to decipher. And the bellman never picked up our luggage. We were left off a list. So annoying.
I did use the fitness center's treadmill though perhaps it would have been more pleasant to run circles in the nearby mall's parking lot. We had a relatively late flight so we were able to hang around the hotel longer, a very pretty place. When we flew to CR, our luggage weighed 41 pounds but that included our 8 pounds of wine plus various shampoos and stuff we ended up emptying. By some miracle, our luggage still weighed 41 pounds, overweight by Spirit's meager standards. I suspect they use bad scales. They didn't charge extra. On the plus side, the flights both were on time unlike some new friends we made had Spirit add 36 extra waiting hours to their flights due to really bad scheduling. And you get nada on their flights. Everything is as lightweight and cheap as possible. We thought we had plenty of time in Florida to switch planes but we barely had time to grab dinner due to impossibly long customs lines and then more security. I was selected for additional security in San Jose and then they ripped apart my friend's carryons in Florida. Fort Lauderdale is an awful inefficient airport. Somehow JFK with its many more flights, has figured out how to move people efficiently. We did buy some overpriced beer on the final leg.
So it was midnight when we got home, an exhausting day but it was a wonderful vacation.
What will I do next?
Stay tuned

Airlines the world over sound all too similar. Money making machines which take every opportunity to fleece their customers.
It does look and sound like a delightful break though.
This particular airline is the worst at its fleecing schemes. The price quoted is way lower than their competitors but then they nickel and dime you for everything. We were very lucky that things worked out this time.
