Welcome to Nicaragua

Right outside of town a crowd assembled under a mother and baby sloth. Hard to tell from this photo. This is one of the many instances a good camera would have come in handy though my friend will share her close-ups at some point. The Spanish word for them is peresosos, lazy bears. They come down once a week to poop which they bury in a hole then a whole lot of just hanging in the trees. We saw several on this trip

iguana tree. Right next to a restaurant, the owner would tie up extra food to the tree and iguanas soon multiplied . On the other side of this bridge, the bar owner (La Loca Iguana) did the same so now there is a grove of iguana trees

pineapple plantation. We went by lots of sugar cane too

sugar refinery

On our Rio Frio river cruise where a good lens would be helpful. This is an anhinga or piano bird. It has to dry its wings out after diving for fish. We saw several caimans and humans fishing (with their hands..confident that caimans only attack smaller than themselves prey) Mangrove swallows and Amazon kingfishers kept darting to and fro, both iridescent teal to green.

New country for Sue! No one at border. We went about 10 feet in and turned the boat around.

After lunch at the boat place, we went back to La Fortuna to a hillside of hot springs nicely landscaped and of various temperatures. Nice just to sit in for a few hours. No sulfur fumes. Very clear water

one of their many pool bars serving very expensive drinks. We waited to go to the hotel with our super Christian purchases

We found this on one of our beds. After dinner, we went to various rooms and balconys of our new friends and shared drinks
