The Rhine Valley

We spent a relaxing afternoon  laying in lounge chairs watching castles go by. Then we were treated with an afternoon tea and Rudesheimer Kaffee made with a brandy from the area

I can think of much worse ways to spend an afternoon. Or a day.

PBS occasionally runs shows about river cruises. Here in Oregon, there are day cruises on the Willamette, and, I think, overnight cruises on the Columbia. Then there are Mississippi River cruises. Do you think you'll take any of those?

I have been up and down the Columbia River gorge, beautiful as you know, by car and theoretically can explore the Willamette. Really have no desire to do the Mississippi. The same cruise line we use does the Mississippi and the Great Lakes but for some reason charges more than on the Rhine or Danube

Reminds me of the time I was on a river cruise (it was actually a Red Sea cruise) in Saudi Arabia and innocently made mention of the fact that I love whiskey, male strippers, and women drivers but detest Allah, Mohammed, and bin Salman. How was I to know those people would flip-out over a little good-natured banter? If I hadn't jumped from the boat and swam to Eritrea, I don't know but what they might have done something I would have regretted involving rocks, a chopping block, and a scimitar. That trip soured me on river cruises, but it wasn't the cruise itself--the weather was lovely, and everyone had been cordial until I started kidding around--it was all those people going stark-raving mad over nothing. It was like being in America and carrying a "I Love Abortion" sign at a Trump rally.

Daughters? Is this Kris from Portland--aka Portland Kris? Ha. I don't think you've been around my blog for awhile, Kris, and I always miss you and worry about you when you don't visit. If not for you, I would probably close my blog to anonymous comments (right now, I have a stalker who, for months, has left insult after insult on my blog and on the blogs of others I know), but I so enjoy you and feel grateful for your interest that I can't do that.
