Although we have seen parts of these rivers already, this 15 day cruise would cover new territory plus they kept throwing freebies and discounts our way including their drink anything you want package that even Steve, a teetotaler couldn’t resist. Fortunately he kept all under control and persistent heartburn limited me. Still I am doing an alcohol fast for awhile and am laying off sweets and excess starch. Steve helped me out by giving away all my apricot croissants to Maya and Naomi
We also had a much better flight schedule than on previous trips flying directly to Amsterdam though on a flight from hell due to constantly screaming babies directly in front of us and a kicker behind. We arrived in time for a fancy breakfast before exploring on our own.
We took zillions of photos
We headed off to the Rijks Museum. Navigating Amsterdam is tricky as the streets change names every block and are curvy. We thought we would go to the Stedelijk but ran out of time and energyInteresting golden egg
Steve loves selfies. I don’t but am including this one because it is just a few hours before I lost parts of my front teeth tripping face first on cobblestones also injured a knee , ankle and hand which was cut up by the teeth. We still had a mile to walk back to the ship. Most has healed since except the teeth. I look hideous
Cheese shops all around
Inside the floating flower shop. Bulbs were very cheap but can’t be brought back to US without being certified
Public art
Lots of canals and gabled roofs
Floating flower market
Rijks Museum. Lots of Rembrandts. Went there on a previous trip
Close up of stone work
Bike path through the Rijks. Zillions of bikes. Had to watch out for them constantly
Cutesy cow store
