My brother lives on the ocean side in a community sometimes called Fog City. However if you drive about fifteen miles over the mountains east to the Bay, it is usually sunny and 20-30 degrees warmer with no fog.

On to Stanford, just east of Palo Alto which many people believe is one of the prettiest campuses in the world full of art, lot of it Rodin. The place is dripping in money. Pretty gardens. Usually I can see acorn woodpeckers there but the circling falcons made birds scarce. We ate lunch at a nice but very busy crepe place in Palo Alto. They were having their street art fair. We were able to see only a part of it. Musicians, art in progress, foodstands...lots to entertain all the senses.
Back west through a very narrow twisty mountain road with ancient redwoods right up to the edge. Although a sunny, clear day, the trees blocked out the light. Down to the oceanside to visit a goat farm. Alas, not baby goat season though bought some tasty cheese. Down to the artsy town of Pescardero  to get some artichoke bread and in my case, art. A stop he cliffs to overlook the ocean. A fun full day.
